What is Mummification?
Mummification was an interesting, religious, and important way of preserving a dead body. In Ancient Egypt, they believed that when a person died, they went to a new afterlife. Mummification was important because of this belief. There were many steps in the process of mummification and the body needed to be preserved so the soul would be safe for afterlife. It is interesting because nobody mummifies today. The most important belief was helping someone make the journey from this life to the next.
Why is Egyptian Mummification Important?
Mummification was important because of the Ancient Egyptian beliefs. They mummified the body and went through many steps so that they could preserve the body because they believed that their soul could go on to the afterlife. For high classed Egyptians like priests, gods, and pharaohs, they built temples as homes for their spirit to live in when they were mummified and there were statues of them inside the temple. Mummification was taken seriously because they believed in the process that if preserving the body and soul that they could live in the afterlife. Egyptian beliefs were so strong that they perfected every detail for the afterlife.
